A multi-phase 3D animation suite exploring next-generation stellarator fusion.
Thea Energy partnered with us to develop a comprehensive visual language for communicating their stellarator-based fusion approach. Over multiple production phases, we created more than twenty animations showcasing plasma motion, coil architecture, and reactor geometry through a polished, cinematic style.
This work became part of their wider communication strategy, supporting investor materials and public-facing content. The brief evolved over time, allowing the visuals to expand in scope and complexity as the project progressed.
Evolution of the Reactor Visuals
A key aspect of this project was capturing the progression of Thea Energy’s reactor designs.
Early-Phase Animations
The initial work focused on a simplified stellarator concept. These sequences introduced the overall structure of the reactor, early coil paths, and foundational plasma forms. They helped establish a consistent visual identity for all future animations.

Advanced-Phase Animations
Later stages introduced significantly more complex components and geometry:
- Evolved coil designs
- Multi-layered magnetic surfaces
- Detailed assembly structures
- Advanced plasma motion and volumetrics
- Refined colour and material systems
This progression allowed us to build a cohesive library of visuals that reflects the development of Thea Energy’s reactor concepts over time.
